New regulations on construction waste segregation – 2025
As of January 1, 2025, new regulations regarding mandatory segregation of construction and demolition waste came into force. According to the Act, this waste must be divided into at least six fractions: wood, metals, glass, plastics, gypsum and mineral waste (e.g. concrete, bricks, ceramics). Segregation does not have to take place directly on the construction site - it can be commissioned to an authorized company by signing an appropriate agreement. It is important, however, that both the waste producer and the entity taking over the waste are responsible for proper segregation. The new regulations aim to increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Failure to comply with the segregation obligation is punishable by administrative penalties from PLN 1,000 to PLN 1,000,000.
